This part of France has many different attractions
for holidaymakers. It is a rural retreat where the countryside is
unspoilt, hedgerows and country lanes abundant with wild flowers
and fruit trees. This area is renowned for cider, Camembert cheese
and Calvados (apple brandy) all produced in Normandy. Venturing
into Suisse Normande (Norman Switzerland) there are magnificent
views of valleys, small mountains and fast-flowing rivers and streams.
Continuing further north towards the coast there is
Bayeux and Caen along with the D-Day landing beaches and museums.
To the west you can also experience beautiful sandy beaches as well
as visiting the spectacular Mont St. Michel. For those more adventurous,
Paris is only 2 hours away by train. Throughout Normandy there are
monuments, zoos, boat trips, sporting activities, gardens, festivals,
markets and events taking place all year, particularly during the
holiday season.
